The Vakkom Moulavi Memorial Research Centre (VMMRC) celebrated academic excellence by conferring awards to three outstanding students of Vakkom Vocational Higher Secondary School for their exceptional performance in the 2024–25 academic year. The awards were presented during the ‘Praveshanolsavam’ (Opening Day Ceremony) held at the school on June 2.
This year’s awardees were:
Deva D.L., recipient of the S. Muhammed Abda Memorial Award for Higher Secondary Commerce
Aryasree R., recipient of the Dr. M. Sabir Memorial Award for Higher Secondary Science
Balamurukan A., recipient of the Swadeshabhimani Memorial Award for Vocational Higher Secondary
Each student received a cash prize and a memento as a token of recognition for their academic achievement.
The event was inaugurated by Sri R. Subash, Member of the District Panchayat. Sri Nahas Abdul Haq, VMMRC programme coordinator, distributed the awards and spoke at the meeting. The function was presided over by Sri Ashok, PTI President.
Others who spoke at the event included Sri Vishnu, Vice President of Vakkom Grama Panchayat, and Smt Jaya, Member of Vakkom Panchayat. The welcome address was delivered by Sri Shaji M.P., Principal of the school.
Representatives from VMMRC, Smt O. Saleema and Smt Shaheen Nadeem, were also present at the event.
Earlier, VMMRC also distributed school bags and essential learning materials to 20 students of the Vakkom New Lower Primary School (Writer Vila), as part of its ongoing outreach to support students from under-resourced backgrounds.
The ceremony served as a testament to VMMRC’s enduring vision to uphold the educational legacy of Vakkom Moulavi and to inspire academic commitment among students in the community.
